Scotland Open Team

Jack Capel

Born in Carluke, I have now been representing Scotland every year since 2014 in Individuals, pairs, European and World Team competitions. My greatest achievement was winning the World Pairs. I’m looking forward to what is bound to be a very competitive World Team competition this year and fighting for every place. No Scotland, no party.

Elliot Barber

I’m 20 years old, have done Mga since I was about 10. I ride for Hereford and Worcester Mga team with my best mates. We all met through Mga showing the power of Mga bringing people together. The world team championships in wales this year isn’t my first rodeo, as is the case with the rest of my team I have represented Scotland on several other occasions since 2016 as a junior in the world teams and European teams, and last year at the home international and the world teams in Belgium

Caroline Barbour

I live in Benenden, Kent and ride for Leicester Red MGA. This is my third World Team Champs and I have also competed at Europeans in the past. I started mounted games when I was about 4 years old, and I have always competed in showjumping as well. My greatest games achievements have been Horse Of the Year Show and winning world pairs in 2014. I am very excited to ride at World Team Champs this year and hope to qualify for Royal Welsh too.

Katie Deas

I live in Shrewsbury, Shropshire and ride for Shropshire Navy MGA. I have been representing Scotland in both European and World Championships for 6 years. My biggest achievement so far will have to be will be winning World Pairs. This will be my first international competition on Millie, and look forward to some good competition .

Calum Leach

Born and lived in Ayrshire, on the west coast of Scotland, all my life. I am 21 years old, and have represented Scotland since 2010. I ride for Hampshire North. Henry, my pony is 7yrs old. I have owned him since he was 2, backed and trained him myself, an ongoing challenge but with no doubt my biggest achievement.

Josh Rider

Bella Capel

Bella Capel is the Scotland trainer this year. She trains the County team of Royal Berkshire with whom she’s won the British Championships on two occasions as well as all the Championship shows. She’s trained the Scotland Open team on two previous occasions when they came reserve champions at The Royal Welsh Show in 2015 and were 5th in Ireland at the World team champs the following year.

Carla Paterson

My name is Carla Paterson and I am 15 years old. I live in Balfron which is a village near Glasgow in Scotland. I live with my Mum, Dad, big sister Alexandra and wee brother McKinlay. I have competed at lots of MGA competitions over the years but my favorite is the European Championships which I have been in the Scotland team for the last 5 years and really enjoyed it. This will be my first year competing at the World Team Championships. I also ride in West Perthshire Pony Club Mounted Games Team and was part of the Scotland team competing at The Royal Windsor Horse Show this year, we had great fun and finished in 3rd place. I spend lots of time with my pony Dante and just love competing on him. I also enjoy netball and badminton.

Lauren Mcdonald

Lauren Mcdonald 16 yr old from Perthshire in Scotland.MGA Lauren has been doing pony club games since 2015 but has only started MGA games this year. Lauren’s main hobbies are her ponies. She enjoys cross country but her favorite is games.

Jennifer Campbell

Jennifer is 14 years old and attends The Glasgow Academy school in Glasgow. She has one older brother called Euan. Jennifer is a member of west Perthshire pony club and lives and breathes ponies. We have three ponies … Topper, Harvey, and Biscuit. Jennifer has been riding since she was 4; she has had a pony since she has been 7 and was taught everything she knows by her pony Kes. Mounted Games has given Jennifer so many opportunities and she has been lucky enough to compete at the Royal Highland Show and Blair Horse trials and Champs and Addington Manor. Jennifer not only does mounted games but has also had great results in show jumping and regularly competes for her school. Jennifer is also a member of army cadets and is enjoying this immensely. Her dad was in the army so perhaps she will follow in his footsteps! Jennifer is so proud to be able to compete for her country and will definitely give her all.

Abbi Donoghue

Abbi Donoghue – age 15 – riding Copper Riding for 12 years. Ridden for Scotland Royal Windsor x 2 HOYs x 2 MGA Europeans x 5 First Worlds Competition Enjoys skiing, socializing and Dancing. Rides MGA – North Warwickshire Pony Club – Eglinton

Evie Meiklem

My name is Evie Meiklem and I am 15years old. I live in a town called Kilmarnock in Ayrshire. I enjoy going out with my pals and on Saturdays, I have a job exercising racehorses in a yard near Ayr. I competed at HOYS in 2016 & 2017 with him and Eglinton Pony Club and I was in the Scotland team for Royal Windsor Horse Show in 2018. My pony is called Sandy and he is 16years old. He has only been doing games for 3years – I trained him myself and he loves it. We have competed together at euros in 2017 and numerous MGA competitions since. We are really looking forward to competing as part of the Scotland U17 team at Worlds this year.

Georgia Brown

My name is Georgia Brown and I’m 17 years old. I live on a farm outside a village called Craigie. I enjoy taking part in all young farmers events throughout the year. I have competed at Horse Of the Year Show in 2014, 2016 and 2017 and also in the Scotland Team at The Royal Windsor Horse Show through Pony Club.
